John is the Corporate General Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for Charles F. Day & Associates LLC, a Service Disabled, Veteran Owned, Historically Underutilized (HUB) Zone Business, providing consulting and logistics support through the United States and abroad.  John provides in-house legal counsel and human resources expertise in support of the company and its clientele.

He received dual Bachelors degrees in Business and Computer Science Software Engineering (BS) from MaryCrest College in Iowa, a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from St. Ambrose University in Iowa, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Juris Doctorate (JD) from Northwestern California University, and a Master of Laws (LLM) from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. He is licensed to practice law in Michigan, Iowa, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois; US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims; the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit; US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces; US Tax Court; the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Supreme Court.

John has over 34 years of experience working for the United States Army as a Civilian Employee.  He served an assignment as Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist for the U.S. Army’s Sustainment Command, providing logistics expertise as the Chief of the Far East Theater of Operations Desk. His experience also includes positions with the Army as Acting Deputy Director for Operations (G3), and as Division Chief for Soldier Training, Plans & Exercises, along with the Contingency Contracting Mission.  John served a three year assignment as Supervisor (Battle Captain) in the Army Sustainment Command’s Logistics Operations Center.

John’s Human Resources and Legal career began in 1985 with his assignment to the Rock Island Arsenal Civilian Personnel Office. He held a variety of positions with a wide range of responsibility at the Installation and then at the Headquarters levels to include: Corporate Human Resources, Team Leader for the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Labor Relations Specialist, Employee Relations Specialist, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR Ombudsman) where he reported directly to the Army Sustainment Command’s Commanding General.

John was a Professor of Business and Computer Science for 25 years at Black Hawk Community College, in Moline, Illinois, and is currently a Professor of Human Resources, Diversity, Business, and Business Law at Eastern Iowa Community College and St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.  John has received the US Army Commander’s Award for Civilian Service twice, and received an Official Commendation for support to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom forces deployed to the Central Command Area of Responsibility through Contracting Support Brigades, and Contingency Contracting Support Battalions. He has been recognized in Who’s Who in American Law, American Business; American Education, and is listed in the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs.  John is a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International, “Soia Mentschikoff” Chapter, Miami, Florida. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa Bar, the Michigan Bar, along with the Federal Bar Association, holding several leadership positions. He is currently serving the Iowa State Bar as a Moot Court Judge and a Moot Court Arbitrator in the State Bar’s Middle and High School State wide Moot Court competitions. John is a Senior Professional in Human Resources with the Society for Human Resource Management, and a member of the American Bar Association’s Military Pro Bono Project, as well as a member of the Quad City Labor Management Counsel’s Advisory Board.
