Product Development Engineer (Manufacturing) - Sioux Falls, SD

Charles F Day and Associates is recruiting a Product Development Engineer for their Midwest client. We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Product Development Engineer that will have responsibility for the development of new products and processes that will meet future customer and market requirements.

Duties: 

• Play lead role in delivery of cost-competitive, fully validated product lines within program timing constraints which includes:

• Comprehensive product design guides outlining detailed design considerations for applicationof a given product line.

• Product cost models that will be used as basis for business assessments for given product Line

• Structural limitation guidelines for product line

• Utilization of APQP approach to product development as outlined in company Project  Management and methodology

Education/Experience:  Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering curriculum.

Three to five years of related experience.  Well versed in the physics of heat transfer and fluid flow phenomenon as applied to vehicles.

Strong analytical skills including heat transfer analysis, stress analysis and energy balances within the cooling system. Strong computer skills in the areas of computer aided engineering. CFD experience a plus.  FEA experience a plus. 

Additional Experience:  OEM manufacturing setting with the demonstrated ability to design for manufacturability. This includes the processes of welding, brazing, and metal forming. Experience with the use of quality tools such as: FMEAs, Design of Experiments, SPC… etc.
