Developmental Systems Engineer – Audio/Video/Media (Sioux Falls, SD)
Charles F Day and Associates is now recruiting a Developmental Systems Engineer with experience in audio/video/media manufacturing for our Midwest client.
Duties: Responsible for defining the system level architecture of new audio/video products, including software, hardware and PCBA's. Accountable for the conceptualizing, planning, defining and implementing the top level functional block design of a new product or system. Candidate must be able to delineate the development of a stable, extensible and elegant architecture which is necessary to ensure the long-term functionality and stability of complex software-based or large modular designs.
Skills: Must be familiar with processing of various types of media streams, including digital and audio compression formats such as MPEG1/2/4, H.264, AVC, and VC-1. Must also be knowledgeable in digital communications methods; including QAM, VSB, QPSK, 8PSK, and COFDM, and audio coding standards such as: Dolby Digital, AC-3, AAC, HE-AAC, and Dolby Digital Plus.
Experience understanding and implementing designs based on NTSC, ATSC, DVB, MPEG1/2/4and SMPTE standards. Knowledge of DSP design and FPGA implementation experience is a plus. Ability to work with and lead software, hardware and electrical engineers to plan, design implement and debug circuits, FPGA's, systems and chips.
Requirements: Demonstrated understanding of most major technical disciplines associated with digital video/audio product design, integration, and testing for video/audio broadcast, cable, IP, and satellite. These include, but are not limited to the current protocols, technologies, and practices in the following areas: MPEG-2/DVB, H.264/AVC, VC-1 system experience.
Up to date digital video system solutions (off-air, DBS, cable, satellite, IP, wireless, etc.)
Understanding of: video compression technologies and video quality for Standard and High Definition, Conditional Access Systems.; Network Management Systems; wide technology base (hardware, software, PCB design, mechanical, etc.)
Candidate must have the ability to follow in depth design analysis.
Experience with digital video manipulation techniques such as Rate Shaping and Digital Program Insertion (DPI) is a plus.
Education/Experience: BSCS, BSSE, BSEE, or BSEET required, a MS degree a plus. At least 5-10 years in hardware and software product development & troubleshooting required.
