Logistics/Materials Mgmt Director - Manufacturing
Charles F Day and Associates is currently seeking an experienced Logistics and Materials Director for a Midwest client.
Working in concert with the Production Planners and Supervisors, Shipping, Materials Management, and Purchasing the Logistics Director will be responsible for leading production scheduling, material planning, establish company-wide transportation efforts, and position capacity requirements in support of MRP driven master production plan.
Duties:
- Ensure preparation of monthly master production schedule in coordination with monthly sales plan to meet customer delivery performance goals.
- Verify production schedule.
- Review material requirements to insure material availability.
- Lead material planning group in efforts to meet delivery and inventory turn performance goals.
- Lead efforts within materials planning/scheduling group in the utilization of all aspects of MRP II system.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance measurement reports and charts.
- Assist Production Supervisors in material issues related to engineering changes and new product start up.
- Complete part by part analysis of inventory items by product.
- Coordinate and lead efforts in the annual physical inventory.
- Accomplish special assignments as needed.
- Oversee and develop Production Planning team into world class and professional materials organization.
- Participate in plant cross-functional teams when requested.
- Support and improve company policy administration related to purchasing and inventory control.
- Emergency expediting of material shortages for any of the product areas.
Requirements:
- Proven track record in problem solving, analyze alternatives and prioritize/implement necessary corrective actions.
- Solid Understanding of material flow and production scheduling techniques and has the aptitude to perform inventory analysis.
- Working knowledge and experience within an MRP driven manufacturing system.
- Ability in utilizing MRPII (AS400) system and PC’s to perform work responsibilities and develop analytical tools to measure plant performance.
- 3PL Experience and Execution.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
- Total commitment to operating in a team driven environment and present self as a role model in demonstrate high standards of performance and personal integrity.
- Able to communicate with customer and suppliers professionally as a representative of the Company.
Education/ Experience: Four year BA/BS degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. Five years experience in a Supervisory/Leadership capacity, preferably in a materials organization, inventory management and control.
APICS CPIM certified or is working toward completion of certification
